Jiu-Jitsu was brought to Brazil from Japan via Mestre Mitsuyo Maeda. He was introduced to the very young brothers Helio and Carlos Gracie at the beginning of the 20th Century. Helio was having trouble executing large throws requiring a lot of power. He began to favor techniques suited for the smaller person to take on a much larger adversary. BJJ is a highly effective discipline for use in self defense or competition. Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program at Arena Combat Sports is dynamic, fun, and highly practical. All of our instructor are competitors or professional fighters. You'll be learning tried and tested techniques used in battle. Everyone in our group is very helpful and has a desire to learn.
